Our Philosophy
Balanz CO2 is different from all other types of Carbon Offsetting. BalanzTM exists to give customers the tools to BalanzTM their own lifestyle with real Carbon offsets that are accurately calculated. The money paid by customers is used to fund real, long term solar projects that genuinely reduce CO2 for many years.
The UK government says that not all Carbon offset schemes are genuine, this is because if they invest in trees for example, no one can say what will happen to the tree in 5 years time, or if a tree might have grown naturally anyway. In a 10-year experiment led by Duke University in the US scientists found that trees provide little help in offsetting increased levels of the greenhouse-gas carbon dioxide. That’s because only the trees that got the most water and nutrients were able to store enough significant levels of carbon, the scientists discovered.
We use Solar Thermal Projects only - Why solar? Because solar technologies are robust and long established with proven paybacks. We can therefore guarantee CO2 reductions. We are keen to make sure that our schemes reduce as much CO2 as we say they will, that we use an independent body to verify them. We use Gold standard.
